Some Of My Favorites ...

This is in 1981 but I have no idea where ... does anyone know ? I think this is one of my favorite reunion "group" photos ever. How sweet and innocent do we all look ?!

I love this one too ...cuddly group that we are !! This is in 1997. Albany ...

I wasn't at the reunion pictured in the next two pictures ... but I love them !! They look so fun !

Tightening up the spaces ...

In response to a question my Dad asked about tightening up the spaces between the photos ... I'm not sure why it does that but I'd say on the post Pam did, she selected "None" as the format for the pictures. I always select "center" that seems to work best ... with the words appearing either before or after the pictures. I'll have a bit of a fiddle with Pam's post to see if I can work out why it has spaced itself the way it has. (and perhaps remove some of the spaces ...) Bon

Jimmy ... I didn't know you didn't go to the reuinon and I haven't heard about your new job !! Do tell ... perhaps there are other Alley's who didn't make it to the reuinon who haven't heard either !!

A Bit of Lore

The above pictures are the chapel at UVA. This is where Raymond Lee Alley married his highschool sweetheart, Elizabeth Ann Templin. Liz wore a gown of (surprise!) lavender that she made herself. The cloth for this dress started it's life as a funeral banner, but fortunately, that had no superstitious effect on the marriage!

Apparently, no one told UVA that a wedding was to take place as the grounds keepers had liberally sprinkled the surrounding lawn with manure! To this day, Liz says everytime she smells manure, she blissfully remembers her wedding.

Ray and Liz had a wonderful marriage. Their love survived the long years, the sudden death of a child, and the imfamous bow-tie racks, until finally it was death that parted them.

May we all be so blessed.

It's Jimmy

I can't believe how hard it is to miss an Alley reunion!! (well, I guess I can believe it because of how much we all ROCK!!). But I thought about it off and on all weekend and kept wondering who was dunking who in the pool, what games the kids (big and small) were playing, and who got lost on the way to the Saturday event. I love the pictures that were posted of hanging in C-Town! Who posted those? I saw the picture of Travis walking with Aunt Thelma but thought it was Uncle Bob! I can't believe how much we all grow each year. :) I am jealous of those who got to climb that tree but not surprised at all to see who's in it. Tree climbing was a hobby of mine as a kid. The babies are getting sooo big, Sarah is absolutely an Alley, Xander seems to have a great personality, and Jesse...you make a really good short giraffe!! Tom...I would have played the tap game with you but inevitably lost as usual. I can't believed I missed a reunion where "Big" Max was there :(... I can tell from Travis' shirts that we agree on music. Danny...I missed some great conversation w/ you, and apparently smoking from a pretty sweet hookah too. When are you coming to Colorado? That is a classic picture of my Dad holding the attention of Kent. I love it. Anyhoooo, I trust that Mom and Dad filled everyone in on me and my new opportunities and such. I'm excited to start my new job this coming Monday! And I'm already looking forward to Toledo!!!! WOO HOOO.

Note: Maybe it would be good to say a quick note when we post things like pictures on this blog to tag who posted, as we will all be going by the same "AllAlleys" login ID.

LOVE,
Jimmy!

Alleys On The Net

Ok --- I've added something to the side bar. It's called Alleys On The Net. I've added the ones I know about, but I thought it would be a cool place to put our links. If you want to add a link ... here's what you do.

After you are signed in, click on "Customize" in the top right hand corner of the blog. When you get to the customize page, make sure the "Page Elements" tab is chosen. You will see "Alley's On The Net" As one of the page elements. Click on "Edit". Fill in the "New Site URL" section and then the "New Site Name". Click "Save Changes" at the bottom and Voila ... link added !!

I hope those directions are clear !

Can anyone tell I'm excited about this blog ??

Bon

I LOVE this idea !!

Hi Alleys ...

What a perfectly timed treat for this sad Alley in Australia who missed the reunion ! ( I'm not sad in general ... just sad that I missed seeing you all !! )

Looking at the photos brought many smiles to my face !! What fun !! I can't wait to hear all the stories ... maybe some could be written here !

I can't wait to go through my old photos and start scanning some favorites to post !!

Lots of Love ! Bon

A Few Pictures from The Alley Reunion 2006

This blog has been created in order to share pictures and memories of Alley happenings, primarily reunions, of course, but also anything else Alleys would like to share. It is fitting that the first photo should commemorate the generation without which the other generations would not exist.

Here's a standing view with extended family and guests.

Here's the next generation, those who were present at the wonderful Chadds Ford Reunion, 2006 Edition.

This is the next generation--the future.

And the farther future!

Posted by Jim to get this thing started! Love from Denver....
